ESAPN Represented in in the Civil Society and Indigenous peoples’

On 11 June 2026, the Somalia Pastoralist Parliamentary Group, alongside ESAPN and PENHA Somalia, convened a high-level dialogue in Mogadishu to formalize a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening legislative support and sustainable development for pastoralist communities in Somalia.

Convened on 29th April 2026 in Dodoma, key stakeholders and Members of Parliament successfully revitalized the Tanzania Pastoralist Parliamentary Group (TZ-PPG) to champion pastoralist-friendly laws, communal land tenure, and climate resilience

The South Sudan Pastoralist Parliamentary Group (SSPPG) held a foundational meeting today to establish its formal leadership structure. This move marks a significant step forward in the group’s mission to represent and support pastoralist interests across the country.

Pastoralism remains the backbone of livelihoods, food security, and resilience in South Sudan’s rural economy. However, recurring conflict, climate shocks, and weak service delivery continue to undermine its potential. This new five-year partnership moves beyond dialogue to establish a Joint Coordination Platform aimed at securing communal land rights and safeguarding livestock mobility.
